Pranav Aurora, MD

Child, Adolescent & Adult Psychiatrist
Upper West Side · New York City

Thoughtful psychiatric care for children, adolescents, young adults, and adults.

About

I am a board-certified psychiatrist practicing on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.

I attended medical school at Brown University, completed adult psychiatry residency at SUNY Downstate/Kings County Hospital, and completed fellowship training in child and adolescent psychiatry at Columbia and Cornell/NewYork-Presbyterian Hospitals.

My approach integrates psychotherapy, medication management, and careful attention to development, relationships, family, school, work, and the broader context of a person’s life.

Practice

I work with children, adolescents, young adults, and adults.

Treatment may include psychotherapy, medication management, parent guidance, or a combination of approaches depending on the individual and their needs.

Areas commonly addressed include:

ADHD
Anxiety
Depression and mood concerns
School and academic difficulties
Relationship concerns
Family conflict
Life transitions

Approach

Good psychiatric treatment begins with understanding the person, not only the diagnosis.

Symptoms present within the context of relationships, development, family, school, work, identity, and life experience. I try to understand those factors before deciding what form of treatment may be most helpful.

Treatment may involve psychotherapy, medication, or both.
